The Brentham Club and The Fred Perry Trust
Making tennis more accessible for children at our local schools

Brentham Lawn Tennis Club has been delighted to work with the Fred Perry Tennis Trust since Spring 2022, offering coaching programmes during term time for the local community, with the specific aim of broadening access to youth grassroots tennis.

Working with 3 local primary schools, our head coach, James Fiordelisi and his team provide coaching in blocks of eight weeks each term to groups of 20 children, with Fred Perry generously providing funding and all the equipment needed.  We have so far involved over 100children, and the initiative continues.

At the end of the summer term programme, Fred Perry donated 60 brand new racquets to be distributed amongst the participants.

Over the weekend of September 9th/10th, the Brentham Club were delighted to host the Fred Perry Championship Finals, bringing together promising young tennis players from around the country.

Ahead of this prestigious tournament, the Club took the opportunity to invite Montpelier Primary School to the Brentham Club to receive their brand new Babalat racquets embossed with the Wimbledon logo. The racquets will be taken back to school and used in the curriculum for all the pupils to enjoy. Clifford Bloxham, Tournament organiser was on hand to talk to the children and encourage them to continue with the sport.  Those who wanted to, were also invited to attend the tennis clinic on the 10th, joining in with all the competitors. Brentham already has the next course booked in to start at the end of September. We are proud to be part of this initiative.
